Welcome to New Alexandria, a wonderful community of friendly neighbors. There are about 150 families who live in New Alexandria. It is a great place to live, in part, because our neighbors care about our community and each other. About 4/5ths of the homes were built in the 1930s through the 1970s. Newer homes have “filled in” remaining lots giving our community its rich character. Many of our residents have lived here “forever” and others have just discovered New Alexandria. We are conveniently located (less than 25 minutes from downtown D.C. and about the same distance from Fort Belvoir), a five-minute walk from the Potomac River, a sailing and boating marina, the Mount Vernon Recreation Trail, a Dunkin Donuts, and a Starbucks, several good restaurants, a Post Office, many specialty stores, the Mount Vernon RECenter, and a recently renovated Safeway.
We have a bi-monthly New Alexandria Citizens Association (NACA) meeting where we discuss issues of concern to our residents. The meetings are held at the Martha Washington Library, 6614 Fort Hunt Road on the last Wednesday of the odd months (January, March, May, July, September, and November) from 7:30-8:30 PM. We distribute a monthly Newsletter highlighting events discussed at the meeting and other items of interest to the community. NACA dues are only $5.00 a year.
We have several social events each year – including a 4th of July parade, a Halloween party, and a National Night Out event the first Tuesday in August. As issues develop, we try to pass the word via e-mail. If you would like to be added to the distribution for these e-mails, please send an e-mail to email@example.com
